Cephalopholis urodeta (Forster, 1801)
Darkfin hind, 28cm

A small grouper, Cephalopholis urodeta is common at Kwajalein on most lagoon and seaward reefs. It is similar in size to Cephalopholis spiloparaea and variable in its shade of red, but can easily be recognized by the slanting white bands on the tail fin and red spots on the head..

Unable to see the tail, I would have called the next one Cephalopholis spiloparaea but for the red dots on the head.
