Epinephelus maculatus (Bloch, 1790)
Highfin grouper, 62cm

Epinephelus maculatus is common, particularly on small lagoon reefs surrounded by sand and in lagoon slope algae patches. Most often we see small ones with juvenile coloration. Adults, like the first one below, are reported to reach about 62cm.

The rest of the photos are various stages of juvenile coloration. The first two are near adults.
