This is a rather uncommon species at Kwajalein and is most often found paired on pinnacle reefs, although they can also be found on lagoon or seaward reefs. We often see juveniles in Halimeda patches on sandy lagoon slopes, sometimes hanging (carefully) around a large Stichidactyla haddoni anemone. The anemones offer some protection, but the fish are capable of being stung as well.
A small juvenile.
