This species is rare at Kwajalein. The few we have seen have been paired, always in very shallow water (about 3m or less) either on the western seaward reef or on the eastern lagoon reef. At least one juvenile was reported from the reef quarries at Kwajalein Island. This is a live coral feeder, reported to eat primarily polyps of the branching coral Pocillopora.
