Cirrhipathes anguina? (Dana, 1846)

We have seen something like these long, unbranched whip corlas called Cirrhipathes anguina, but for now our ID remains tentative. It can be found growing out of caves and ledges, or very tall ones might be seen growing up from the bottom on deeper lagoon slopes and flats. Several kinds of small shrimp, including Pontonides ankeri, Dasycaris zanzibarica and Miropandalus hardingi are always found associated with whip corals, as are some small gobies such as Bryaninops yongei.

There are several different colored whip corals that may be different species.
