Occasionally deep on the seaward reef, we see large coiling whip corals that may be 5 - 10m tall, possibly even more if fully stretched out.
A much smaller tightly coiled species is Cirrhipathes spiralis. We have seen these not at Kwajalein but in Bali and the Philippines. Cirrhipathes spiralis colonies are much smaller, usually a meter or so, and are much more tightly coiled than the much larger corals at Kwajalein. The photo below is from Bali.
