Distichopora sp. (brown variety)

On the seaward reef of Kwajalein Atoll's Burle Island, in the area where the yellow variety is common, there was a cluster of colonies that were dark brown. Some were also mixed in with the typical yellow form, of which it is probably just a variety.

Mixed brown and yellow colonies.

This colony at Mann Island seemed to have characteristics of both purple and brown.

A brown form that is much smaller with thinner branches that may or may not be the same species can be found with the purple Distichopora and one of the Stylaster species in the rough water seaward reef groove and spur system.
