Dendronephthya sp.

These red Dendronephthya and yellow Distichopora colonies were on the steep reef of a pinnacle just lagoonward of a deep water pass. Their contracted state indicates slack tide; when the current starts up with the tidal change, the red soft corals will inflate into trees for feeding.
