Banded snake eel, 97cm

These snake eels can be seen by day or more often at night, usually in sandy or algae patches, where they hunt for small fish and crustaceans. The ones we see at Kwajalein have much narrower black bands than those from Indonesia and the Philippines.

Below are two individuals from Bali, Indonesia, showing their much wider dark bands.
