Parupeneus pleurostigma (Bennett, 1831)
Sidespot goatfish, 33cm

This species is not particularly common, but can be seen in small groups feeding in sand on lagoon and seaward reefs. These photos were taken by Christina Sylvester on the lagoon side of Kwajalein Island's north point.

The two photos below show the same individual taken about a minute apart while it was hunting along the rubble.
