Amblyeleotris fasciata (Herre, 1953)
Red-banded shrimpgoby, 8cm

This species is common at Kwajalein in certain areas, mostly in sand channels on the seaward reef but also on some large midlagoon pinnacles. These are easily recognized by their narrow reddish bands and numerous yellow spots. Most often it is associated with a yellow shrimp that some references call Alpheus ochrostriatus, but which we have heard is an invalid name. (The World Register of Marine Species calls it a nomen nudum, or never officially published name.)
