This shrimp goby is rarely seen at Kwajalein. It inhabits sandy bottom ledges and small caves on the seaward reef at depths greater than 50m, and is probably more common deeper. They are pretty shy and tend to disappear down the shrimp burrow at the approach of lights.
At Pohnpei in the Caroline Islands, this species (photo immediately below) can be seen more readily in sandy ledges as shallow as about 9m.
We have also seen it at about 25m on the wall at Menjangan Island, northwest Bali, Indonesia.
