Vanderhorstia ambanoro (Fourmanoir, 1957)
Ambanoro shrimpgoby, 13cm

This species is usually seen in silty lagoon sand. We observed a number of the on the lagoon side of the western end of Kwajalein Island, where it typically hovered a few centimeters above the sand rather than resting on it like species of Amblyeleotris. We did not see its associated shrimp.
