Oxycirrhites typus Bleeker, 1857
Longnose hawkfish, 13cm

Oxycirrhites typus is not particularly rare at Kwajalein but occurs only rather deep. They are usually found perched in the branches of soft coral, gorgonians and black corals at depths of at least 40m. While most have been observed on the seaward reef, we have seen them on some of the deep lagoon bottom shipwrecks such as the Palawan.
