Parascorpaena picta (Cuvier, 1829)
Northern scorpionfish, 16cm

This is a somewhat tentative ID since these fish are currently thought to be restricted to Southeast Asia and Australia. Color is variable but the pattern does match. This specimen is estimated at about 15cm and was found and photographed by Jay Lord at night on top of a lagoon pinnacle reef.
