So far we have seen only one Bolbometapon muricatum at Kwajalein, figured in the first photo below. It was a juvenile or subadult only about 30cm long. The photo is captured from old low resolution video.
A number of large individuals were seen by divers at uninhabited Taongi Atoll, the northernmost of the Marshalls. While the boat was there, a specimen was seen splashing on the shallow reef, where it beached itself. The divers went onto the reef and found the fish had died.
