Yellowbar parrotfish, 40cm

We have only a few photos of this species but have seen it both on southern lagoon pinnacles and in the shallows on the seaward reef. It seems relatively uncommon at Kwajalein. The photo below was taken on a lagoon pinnacle near the west reef. This is the terminal male color phase. The common name comes from the initial phase, which has wide yellow bands across the back.
