These are common on seaward, lagoon and pinnacle reefs.

A couple of fighting males.

The maze-like pattern on the body was very distinct on this specimen.

Asleep at night.

Male asleep at night with Gibberula parasites on pelvic fin.

The initial phase is reddish brown with distinctly marked scales.

Asleep on the reef at night.

This one may be a younger initial phase.

Juvenile.

Smaller juvenile.
