Red parrotfish, 54cm

This distinctive parrot is bright to brick red in its initial phase, becoming green as it transitions to terminal male. These are somewhat uncommon, usually seen on the seaward reef slope.

Here is the terminal male, photographed by Stan Jazwinski on the steep seaward reef.

We suspect this is the juvenile color phase of this species. The photos were taken by Jay Lord and Stan Jazwinski.
