Negaprion acutidens (Rüppell, 1835)
Lemon shark, 380cm

The lemon shark is occasionally seen in the atoll, usually on lagoon reefs. We saw one measuring about 8 feet (about 2.75m) on the lagoonside of Ennylabegan Island in October, 1995, and another about the same size was photographed in April, 2012, in the shallow lagoon seven islands south of Roi by Sandra Garrison and Gene Littlefield, who provided these photographs. Some years ago, a large individual was caught in Kwaj Harbor by people fishing from the pier.
