Stegastoma tigrinum (Forster, 1781)
Leopard or zebra shark, 354cm

This shark is rare at Kwajalein. We have seen it only three times, twice in channels on the western seaward reef and once on the deck of one of the lagoon shipwrecks. All were observed resting on the bottom. Juveniles, which we have not yet seen at Kwaj, have black zebra-like stripes that become spots as the shark grows.
