Alpheus sp. aff A. bellulus Miya & Miyake, 1969
50mm

This one is apparently currently undescribed, but is similar in appearance to Alpheus bellulus. It is one of the bulldozer shrimp and lives in association with several species of gobies, including Amblyeleotris arcupinna and A. steinitzi. The shrimp maintains a burrow, a hole in the sand or rubble which it tirelessly clears out day after day. The goby acts as a lookout, warning the shrimp of approaching danger and even blocking it in its hole if anything approaches too close.
