Metapenaeopsis sp. 1
60mm

This appears to be a species of Metapenaeopsis. These bury in sand by day, emerging at night to feed, sometimes swimming up into the water column. Most often they are seen in lagoon sandy areas and Halimeda patches. Often when approached by a diver with a bright light, they will quickly bury themselves in sand.
