Saron sp. 1
60mm

Photos of this spectacular but apparently unnamed Saron shrimp are common on the web. At Kwajalein, they occur primarily on the seaward reef slope, where they live well back in caves during the day and only barely come to the outside at night. Males (the first three photos) have elongate chelipeds, while forward appendages on the female are short and furry.
