Aphareus furca (Lacepède, 1802)
Smalltooth jobfish, 70cm

Aphareus furca is common at Kwajalein, typically hanging out, often in loose schools, just off the seaward reef slope. Maximum length is reported to be about 70cm but Kwajalein specimens tend to be much smaller. Occasional individuals have a bright yellow patch on top of the head running from above the eyes down to the upper jaw.
