Lutjanus ehrenbergi is a shallow water species. The one below was photographed by Stan Jazwinski in about 1/3m of water on the reef at Kwajalein's north point.
This 7 to 8cm individual was photographed by Jay Lord at a depth of less than a meter in a small Kwajalein reef quarry locally known as the "Bomb Crater." Smaller fish apparently may not have the orange stripes.
