Lutjanus monostigma (Cuvier, 1828)
Onespot snapper, 60cm

Lutjanus monostigma is uncommon at Kwajalein, mostly seen in small schools or sometimes alone on some lagoon and seaward reefs. There are usually a few around the isolated reefs on the sandy expanse on the lagoon side of the northern half of Bigej Island. Fishbase reports this species can reach about 60cm. Again, that seems a little large for the ones we see at Kwajalein.
