Lutjanus semicinctus Quoy & Gaimard, 1824
Half-barred or black-banded snapper, 35cm

Lutjanus semicinctus is rare at Kwajalein. We have seen only two individuals, both darting over coral at 15 to 25m on the steep seaward reef between Kwajalein and Ennubuj Islands. The photos show one of the two specimens caught on video on 25 January 2015. Fishbase reports a maximum length of 35cm, but a more common length of about 20cm.
