Myripristis berndti Jordan & Evermann, 1903
Bigscale or Blotcheye soldierfish, 30cm

This species is usually seen in small groups in surge channel caves on the seaward reef, as well as small caves and ledges within the lagoon. They can usually be distinguished when they erect their distinctly orange dorsal fin.

This one appeared to have a skin disease.

This one appears to be M. berndti although the black band beneath the white on the anal fin is a bit unusual.
