Sargocentron violaceum (Bleeker, 1853)
Pink squirrelfish, 45cm

We see this species rarely, usually on reefs within the lagoon. Like the other squirrelfish, it hides during the day, emerging at night to feed. The first three photos were taken at night in the Kwajalein ski boat area.

The next two were photographed during the day on the lagoon side of Kwajalein by Christina Sylvester.

A yellow and black juvenile cleaner wrasse, Labroides bicolor, works over the Sargocentron.
