Acanthurus guttatus Forster, 1801
Whitespotted surgeonfish, 26cm

Acanthurus guttatus is common but not often seen by divers. It forms schools in the shallow groove and spur system on the usually rough windward reef. It is not often calm enough for divers to enter the area. We have, however, seen an occasional individual around the Prinz Eugen shipwreck, up very shallow where the waves slap against the wreckage still sticking out of the water.
