Acanthurus lineatus (Linnaeus, 1758)
Blue-banded or Lined surgeonfish, 38cm

Acanthurus lineatus is common at the top of the seaward reef slope. They move fast and never seem to stop, making getting a good clear photo a bit of a challenge. The caudal spine on this species is venomous.

Sometimes when displaying at other members of the same species they turn dark around the head.
