Naso lituratus (Forster, 1801)
Orangespine unicornfish, 46cm

A common unicornfish on lagoon, pinnacle and seaward reefs, Naso lituratus lacks a unicorn horn on the forehead and is the most colorful of the Kwajalein unicornfish. Large individuals develop long trailing upper and lower ends of the tail fin. Although often solitary or in small groups, sometimes these will form large schools.

This species tends to be a bit shy. At night it is easier to approach them where they are sleeping on the reef, as in the two photos below.
