Rhinecanthus rectangulus (Block & Schneider, 1801)

Rhinecanthus rectangulus is relatively common in surgy shallow water on the seaward reef and on tops of large, flat-topped shallow lagoon pinnacles. Like most other triggers, they are a bit shy.

Like other triggers, they tend to dive into holes when approached. This one was sticking out enough to get a photo of at least the rear part of its body.

This was a very pale and possibly not healthy individual.
