Sigillina signifera (Sluiter, 1909)

Sigillana signifera is common at Kwajalein, particularly on some lagoon pinnacles but also not at all uncommon on lagoon and seaward reefs. It seems to periodically undergo outbreaks, where bare rock and dead coral on the tops of lagoon pinnacles such as those at Y or R-buoys become densely covered with the dark green colonial tunicate. These outbreaks tend to fade away over time.

These tunicates are eaten by at least a couple of local species of Nembrotha nudibranchs, including the Nembrotha kubaryana in the two photos below.
