Thalassoma purpureum (Forsskål, 1775)
Surge wrasse, 46cm

These fast-moving wrasses tend to live on very shallow reefs, often with a lot of wave action, and are difficult to capture in a photo. The two upper shots were taken in one of the Kwajalein reef quarries by Christina Sylvester.

Juvenile coloration, below, is a bit different.
