Solomon Islands Sea Anemones and their relatives

This page links to photos of sea anemones and their relatives that we photographed on two dive trips to the Solomon Islands in 1987 and 1994. We did not make a special effort to find and photograph anemones and most of our limited film was saved for other subjects (especially nudibranchs), so these pages represent only a small fraction of the species that are sure to be there. Animals that resemble anemones are in fact not always too closely related and are distributed across several orders in the phylum Cnideria. Many of our species are only tentatively identified to genus or species. Coloration within many species is highly variable. We welcome corrections at uwkwaj@yahoo.com..
