Acropora acuminata (Verrill, 1864)

Acropora acuminata is found on some southern Kwajalein Atoll lagoon pinnacles. There are several staghorn shaped corals in the atoll. We think this one is A. acuminata due to it rather robust branches and rugose appearance.

On one pinnacle, domelike colonies of Lobophyllia hemprichii appear to be growing up, surrounding and smothering taller stalks of the Acropora. Coral wars.
