What we are calling Tylocarcinus sp. 1 generally has a pair of fairly short anterior spines and rounded bumps all over the carapace. The photos below could also represent more than one species. They are usually found under rocks but are frequently more exposed at night. Often they attach bits of hydroids, algae, sponges or other debris to their spines and bodies, making them difficult to see.
