Bohadschia cf vitiensis (Semper, 1868)
500mm

This species is thought to be a brown variety of Bohadschia vitiensis, but confirmation would require close examination of specimens or DNA sequencing. These are moderately uncommon in sand and Halimeda patches on lagoon reefs, generally in the same areas we see Bohadschia vitiensis.

They often bury in the sand by day.

They often host the commensal crab Lissocarcinus orbicularis.

The worm Gastrolepidia clavigera is also found living commensally with Bohadschia cf vitiensis.
