Flat shallow rocks are a favorite place for squid to attach their egg cases. Each capsule seems to have two segments, each producing a baby squid. A few can be seen as shadows in the photo. As they began hatching, each tiny squid shot to the surface after leaving several small puffs of ink as a deterrent.
