Redfin anthias - Pseudanthias dispar

The tops of oceanside drop-offs are home to large aggregations of Anthias species who feed on passing plankton. Spectacular and one of the most common at Kwaj is Pseudanthias dispar, 50mm - 2 inches. Sporting brightly colored high dorsal fins, males spend much of their time displaying their fins as they court females who may outnumber them ten or more to one.
