Zenopontonia rex (Kemp, 1922)
10-20mm

These shrimp live on a variety of other organisms including nudibranchs, sea cucumbers and starfish. The first few photos show them on several kinds of holothurians (sea cucumbers).

One holothurian had an all red specimen, the only one like that we have seen.

The all red one was on a holothurian with the one below, which was slightly more red than normal individuals.

More photos of the unique all red specimen.

The next one was on an Echinaster luzonicus starfish.

Below the shrimp rides a Pleurobranchus weberi.

On the nudibranch Miamira alleni.

The rest of the photos show shrimp on large Hexabranchus sanguineus nudibranchs, where they take on a color that helps the blend in to the background.
