Pontonides loloata Bruce, 2005

The visible feature we are keying in on to differentiate Pontonides loloata from similar species of Pontonides is the presence of a single wide light colored band crossing the carapace posterior to the eyes. Color of the shrimp appears to often match the host black coral.

The two photos below show specimens with speckling that approaches that of the one we are calling Pontonides sp. 2.
