The Wood Sandpiper is listed in Clapp (1990) as an accidental migrant. Wikipedia notes that "it is recorded on Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands about once per decade." Most winter in Africa, southern Asia or Australia, but some venture out to Pacific Islands. The individual on this page was photographed in December 2019 by Christina Sylvester in a shallow, nearly empty water tank on Kwajalein. A number of other migrant water and shorebirds were also present in the tank.
In the photo below, a larger Marsh Sandpiper (Tringa stagnatilis) passes behind the Wood Sandpiper.
