This large and striking species looks a lot like a kind of soft coral also present in this area. We have seen at least 14 individuals, most of them close to 100mm in length and varying slightly in color. Larger ones seemed to be more pink. They appear to not have to move much, since we saw one pair on top of the same rock on successive nights. This was formerly in the genus Ceratosoma.
The one below was carrying a hitchhiking commensal shrimp Zenopontonia rex.
We saw only one rather small individual on the 2016 trip, but we got to dive with its namesake, Jerry Allen.
A juvenile measuring less than 10mm was found at Sepoc.
