This small narrow nudibranch is uncommon to rare in the Marshalls. We have seen specimens at Enewetak, Kwajalein and Utirik Atolls, and it has been reported from Majuro and Wotje. It lives under sponge-encrusted rocks on lagoon interisland reefs at depths of about 1.5 to 5 meters. Specimens we've seen have ranged in length from about 4 to 12mm. Mexichromis lemniscata was first reported in the Marshalls at Enewetak Atoll as Thorunna clitonata by Johnson & Boucher (1984).
The specimen below was found and photographed at Wotje Atoll by John and Lynette Flynn.
