Chromodoris sp e248
20mm
This apparently undescribed Chromodoris
resembles Chromodoris elisabethina,
but lacks the blue color and wide light orange margin of that species. It also
has some characteristics of Chromodoris
strigata and could be a local color form. Finally, it has some resemblance
to Chromodoris lochi, which we have seen in the Solomons
and Philippines, and which
we're quite sure is a different species. Only three specimens have been found
in the Marshalls, all measuring 20mm in length and all in ledges at night on
an Enewetak Atoll lagoon pinnacle. We have, however, seen a photo by Clay Carlson
and Patty Jo Hoff of this species from Guam.
