Chromodoris
willani Rudman, 1982
This
would appear to be Chromodoris willani, a well-known species from the
western Pacific (e.g., Philippines,
Indonesia,
Solomons).
This is the first record from the Marshall Islands, and it differs from its
more western counterparts primarily in the base orange color of the rhinophores
and gills. It would probably need its DNA tested to make certain it is the same
species. The single specimen was found relatively deep on the western seaward
slope near Kwajalein's "Shark Pit" by Bess Buchanan, and it was photographed
by Stan Jazwinski.
