Dendrodorids belong to a group of dorid nudibranchs sometimes referred to as porostomes, which include two families both lacking a radula (set of teeth). They feed essentially by spitting digestive enzymes onto their sponge prey, then sucking up the partially digested softened sponge tissue. Most species are highly toxic, with their toxicity generally derived from whatever sponges they are eating. At least one species seems to produce a substance irritating to a person's eyes; it's best not to rub you eyes after handling one.
